Welcome food enthusiasts! Today, we’re embarking on another  sweet treat adventure with a recipe that’s close to my heart: Strawberries and Cream Rice Cereal Heart Pops. This recipe is not just a treat for the taste buds but also a delight for the eyes, perfect for anyone looking to sprinkle some joy and creativity into their day.

Why This Recipe is a Must-Try

Imagine a blend of creamy marshmallows, sweet strawberry flavor,  crisp rice cereal, and a hint of luxurious white chocolate, all coming together in a delightful heart shape. These pops are ideal for any occasion – be it a romantic Valentine’s dinner, a cheerful kids’ party, or a cozy family gathering. The best part is they’re incredibly easy to make, and the joy they bring can’t be measured.

The Ingredients

  • 6 Cups Rice Cereal: The base of our treat, offering a delightful crunch.
  • 4 Tablespoons of Butter: Adds richness and helps in combining the ingredients smoothly.
  • 12 oz of Marshmallows: The key to the gooey, sticky sweetness that binds our pops.
  • A bag Freeze-Dried Strawberries: Infuse a tangy, fruity burst, contrasting beautifully with the sweetness.
  • 1 ½ Teaspoons of Strawberry Extract: Enhances the berry flavor, making each bite a strawberry dream.
  • ¼ Cup of White Chocolate Chips: A touch of creamy decadence that complements the strawberries.
  • 2 Ounces of White Candy Melts: For a gorgeous, drizzly finish that holds the sprinkles.
  • Sprinkles: Add color, texture, and fun to every pop.

Equipment:

Yields: 9-13 Rice Cereal Hearts

Active time: 48 minutes

Prep time: 21 minutes

Step-by-Step Guide to Deliciousness

  • Start by melting butter and marshmallows in a saucepan over medium heat.
  • As the mixture is melting add your strawberry extract.
  • Slowly stir the mixture with a spatula and add the white chocolate chips.
  • Once the items are combined add a little over half of your freeze dried Strawberries.
  • Stir and watch as the mixture turns into a creamy, strawberry-scented heaven.
  • Pour this mixture over rice cereal in a large bowl. Mix well, ensuring every cereal piece is coated with the marshmallow mixture.
  • Butter your baking dish and press the mixture into it. Allow it to cool for 2 minutes
  • Then, with your heart cookie cutter, cut out heart shapes, each symbolizing a bite of love.
  • Use a knife to make a hole at the bottom of the heart. Push the knife close to 3  quarters of the way up and very slightly wiggle it right and left.
  • Remove the knife and then push the straw into the rice cereal treat heart. If the hole is too big, you can use your hands to lightly squeeze the bottom of the heat to make the hole smaller.
  • Lay your rice cereal heart pop on a sheet of parchment paper and melt your white chocolate candy melts in the microwave until they are completely melted.
  • Put the melted candy chocolate in a piping bag, secure the end and then use a clean pair of scissors to cut a small hole at the tip.
  • Drizzle the melted chocolate over the hearts moving back and forth to create a zigzag motion.
  • Sprinkle the hearts with the rest of the freeze dried strawberries and some sprinkles.
  • Enjoy

Pro Tips for Perfection

  • The Right Texture: If your marshmallow mixture is too thick, add a bit more butter. Too thin? Add a few more marshmallows.
  • Berry Variations: Experiment with different freeze-dried fruits like raspberries or blueberries for a twist.
  • Vegan-Friendly: Use plant-based butter and marshmallows for a vegan version.

Storing Your Masterpiece

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. Avoid refrigeration as it can make the cereal soggy.
