- Total time: 60 minutes
Ingredients:
For the Heart Chips :
- 6 tortilla chips
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 2 ounces white chocolate melts
- Red oil-based candy coloring
For the Cream Cheese Dip
- 8 ounces cream cheese
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1-2 tablespoons heavy whipping cream
- Valentine’s Day sprinkles for garnish
Instructions:
Creating the Heart Chips:
- Prep tortillas:
- Begin by combining the cinnamon and sugar in a small bowl – this will be your sweet coating for the chips.
- Using your heart cookie cutter, cut about 4 hearts from each tortilla. Quick tip: Save those tortilla scraps! They can be transformed into extra chips using the same process.
- Melt your butter in a small bowl, add 2-3 Drops of Oil based red Candy coloring and mix it.
- Using your pastry brush, carefully paint both sides of each tortilla heart with the colored butter. Let each side rest for 2-3 minutes to allow the color to set.
- Make the Chips:
- Air fry the hearts at 350°F for 6-8 minutes, being careful not to overlap them too much. If using a conventional oven, bake at the same temperature and time
- While still warm, coat each chip in the cinnamon-sugar mixture, ensuring both sides are well covered.
- Melt the white chocolate in the microwave for 30 seconds. Stir thoroughly, then continue microwaving in 15-second intervals, until completely melted and smooth. Then place it in piping bag.
- Finish the heart chips with a decorative white chocolate drizzle in a zigzag pattern across each heart.
Vanilla Cream Cheese Dip:
- Preparing the Vanilla Cream Cheese Dip:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla.
- Begin mixing on low speed, gradually adding the heavy cream along the bowl’s edge.
- Continue mixing until the dip becomes light, fluffy, and smooth.
- Transfer to a serving bowl and top with festive Valentine’s sprinkles
TMI TIPs and Storage:
Prevent Color Bleeding: If you want to maintain the dip’s white color, add sprinkles just before serving, as their colors may bleed over time.
Reheat if Needed:If chips become slightly soft, refresh them in the air fryer for 1-2 minutes
Storage:Chips stay crispy for up to 3 days when stored in a cool, dry place. Dip can be refrigerated in an airtight container for up to 3 days
Pairings:
- Beverages: Hot chocolate with whipped cream and cinnamon dust, Strawberry milk for a festive pink drink,Champagne or prosecco for an elegant dessert pairing.
- Complementary Treats: Fresh strawberries for dipping, Chocolate-covered strawberries, Red velvet cake bites, Fresh raspberries and blackberries.
FAQs:
Can I make these without an air fryer?
- Absolutely! A conventional oven works just as well. Use the same temperature (350°F) and time (6-8 minutes), but keep an eye on them as oven temperatures can vary.
Why use oil-based candy coloring?
- Oil-based coloring works best with the melted butter and won’t separate or create spots. Water-based food coloring can cause the butter to separate and won’t give you that smooth, even color.
Can I make these ahead for a party?
- Yes! Both components can be made up to 3 days in advance. Store the chips in an airtight container at room temperature and the dip in the refrigerator. Add sprinkles to the dip just before serving.
My tortillas aren’t crisping up properly. What am I doing wrong?
- Make sure your air fryer or oven is fully preheated, and don’t overcrowd the chips. If they’re too close together, they’ll steam rather than crisp.
Can I use different shapes for other occasions?
- Definitely! This recipe works great with any cookie cutter shape. Try stars for July 4th, trees for Christmas, or circles for everyday snacking.
Fun Display and Gifting Ideas:
- Heart Scene Tray: Consider serving the dip in a heart-shaped bowl for extra theme coordination. Add tiny holiday figurines for extra charm.
- Valentine’s Day Dessert Charcuterie Board: Create a stunning display by arranging the heart chips in a flowing pattern across a large board or platter
- Dipping Station: Set up a DIY dipping station with multiple toppings like fresh strawberries, raspberries, chopped nuts, and chocolate shavings.
