FAQs:

Can I make these cupcakes ahead of time?

  • Yes! They can be stored in an airtight container for up to 4 days. However, note that after defrosting, the colors may blend together slightly.

Why is the white food gel color necessary?

  • The white gel color creates a barrier that prevents the pink and red colors from bleeding into the white buttercream, maintaining the clean, crisp look of your penguins.

Can I use regular food coloring instead of gel colors?

  • Gel colors are recommended as they provide more intense colors without thinning the buttercream. Regular food coloring might make your frosting too runny.

What if I don’t have a heart cookie cutter?

  • You can create a template using parchment paper and carefully trace the shape with a knife, though a cookie cutter is safer and ensures consistency.

 Can I freeze these cupcakes?

  • While the cupcakes themselves can be frozen, it’s best to decorate them fresh as freezing may affect the texture and appearance of the buttercream.
